Chinchillas live as a group in the wild. It is a cute rodent, which is very small. The eyes of the chinchillas are round. It has a broad forehead. The eyes are at both the corner of the forehead. The weight of the chinchilla is around 1 to 1.5 pounds. It has a soft fur with a highest density. The fur of the chinchillas is very soft and dense. It makes you feel pleasant to touch. The color of the fur is grey but it also will be in black and white, beige, and tan. It can live up to 20 years.

The chinchilla’s have a fast growing teeth when compared with other rodents. Therefore, a chinchilla have may need hard materials to eat. It also chews hard material. To prevent chinchillas from dental issues you may buy them a toy or apple wood. It helps chinchillas to nibble them. Treat your chinchillas if you have any of these following symptoms:
- It won’t have interest to eat
- Wetness of the chinchillas under the chin
- It also suffers with running eyes
- Chinchillas will begin to drool

Cage and bedding
Give your chinchillas a suitable cage. The cage have to be little larger because the chinchillas are very active. Choose a wide and tall cage for your chinchillas. Chinchillas look very large but it is the fur only. For bedding of chinchillas do not use pine shavings are cedar. If chinchillas eat them, it may become poisonous. Care fresh is recommended for chinchillas bedding.
Food and water
Provide your chinchilla a proper food. Give them hay or the chinchilla feed pellets. Do not give the feed of other animals to your chinchillas. Feed your chinchilla a treats occasionally. Vegetables, fruits, and dried fruits should not be given to chinchillas. Provide the good supply of water to the chinchillas. Supply water through a plastic water bottle. Do not forget to sterilize the can daily. Only filtered or boiled water have to be given to the chinchillas. If algae go into the stomach of chinchillas, it might result in diahhrea or any other lung diseases.
Do not forget to wash the cage daily with hot water. Soap and chemicals are not necessary for cleaning the cage. Just wash the entire cage with hot water. Then leave the cage to dry in air for sometimes. The bacteria in the cage will be killed by the hot water. Do not have to use bleach to clean the cage. Also remove the hay from the cage.
Temperature and exercises
The chinchillas have to be kept in a cool temperature, as they get overheated easily. Do not keep your chinchilla’s in the direct sunlight. It may cause death to your chinchillas. Keep them always cool. Chinchillas should have exercise daily. They are very active. Let your chinchillas in a small room with your supervision. Make sure that the room is chinchilla proof. Don’t give them the opportunity to run out of the room.
Keep your chinchilla’s very safe. Provide them a good food and bedding. The water is very much important for chinchilla’s for their health. Keep you chinchillas in a very cool area to make him or her survive for long years.
